About Us

The library service consists of 2 libraries at the Cathedral Street and North Hanover Street campuses. Library membership is available to the following:

  • All current students of Glasgow Metropolitan College.
  • All current staff of Glasgow Metropolitan College.
  • Glasgow Caledonian University students studying joint courses with Glasgow Metropolitan College.
  • University of the West of Scotland students studying joint courses with Glasgow Metropolitan College.
  • Glasgow Caledonian University lecturers teaching joint courses with Glasgow Metropolitan College.

Students issued with a current Glasgow Metropolitan College Student card are automatically  registered with the library. This card can be used to access library facilities. All other users must complete an application form and will be issued with a library card.
By becoming a member of the library, you agree to abide by the library rules.

Borrowing

Registered users may borrow up to 6 items, 2 of which can be DVDs. Items are issued for 1 week or 4 weeks. Any item which is not renewed or returned by the due date shown will incur fines of 10p per item per day until returned.  Items can be renewed twice without being returned to the library.  You can renew items in the libraries, by telephone, or via the My Account facility of the library catalogue. Please enter your student number in the borrower ID field, and the last 4 digits of the same number in the PIN field. If you have fines of more than £2 or books more than 4 weeks overdue,  you will not be allowed to use library facilities.
To use library electronic resources, users must register for an Athens password. Registration must take place on campus. Ask staff for details of how to register.
