Funding for part-time study

Fees

Students studying part-time courses will be expected to pay tuition fees and any other subsequent fees, for example examination fees. However, part time students who can show that they are receiving a means tested benefit can apply for their fees to be waived. Fee waiver forms are available from the college Finance Office on 0141 566 4125

If your company is paying your course fees, then you should arrange for your company / sponsoring organisation to send written authorisation to the College. We will only send an invoice once authorisation has been received.

Travelling Expenses

Part-time students on FE courses who are in receipt of a means-tested benefit are eligible to claim traveling expenses. However, funding is limited and will be on a “first come first served” basis. Forms are available from the College’s Finance Office.

Hardship Fund

Students may apply to the college for support in covering travel costs and course expenses. Forms and advice available from Student Services.

Individual Learning Accounts (ILAs)

ILA Scotland is the new way to get help paying for the cost of your learning. If you have an income of up to £22,000 a year ILA Scotland can provide you with up to £500 per year for learning something new. Although standard full time courses in universities and colleges are not eligible for ILA funding, you’ll find that there are a wide range of part time courses to choose from. To find out more, contact Student Services on 0141 566 6216 or call ILA Scotland on 0808 100 1090 or visit http://www.ilascotland.org.uk/

The College offers assistance with the cost of childcare. This allows students, who may have been unable to attend College due to the costs of childcare, to receive help towards the cost of after school care, a registered childminder or registered nursery school. To be eligible, you must be enrolled on one of the College’s part-time courses and require to secure registered childcare facilities. Priority is given to lone (single) parents.  Further details regarding the College’s Childcare Support Scheme are available from the Student Services Section 0141 566 6224.
