One year course at Cathedral Street Campus

The proposed new programme in Hospitality will be a collaborative venture between Edinburgh Napier University and Glasgow Metropolitan College, (GMC).

Glasgow Metropolitan College has been a market leader in the provision of Hospitality & professional Cookery education since the 1960s. The move to provide this degree award in Hospitality Management is key in giving students of hospitality a national and internationally recognised qualification.

The Edinburgh Napier University has delivered a BA (Hons) degree in Hospitality Management for many years and has, within that Faculty considerable experience in supporting degrees delivered by partner institutions.

The main focus of this course is to provide our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to apply for suitable positions in the global business environment. In the UK, according to the British Hospitality Association, the industry is made up of about 127,000 businesses and employs a workforce of 1.6 million people.

The course design and structure will provide you with these necessary skills to join an ever expanding workforce. We are committed to be at the cutting edge of hospitality courses. Our teaching excellence, strong commercial relationships and pragmatic expertise allow us to deliver inspiring, challenging and effective Hospitality programmes.

The course content covers a wide range of subjects to prepare you for your future management career in the hospitality and tourism industries. You will specialise in hospitality business with the opportunity to study modules in:

  • Conference Management
  • Hospitality Supervision
  • Training Skills

The situation of the Cathedral Street campus, in the city centre of Glasgow, provides students with a wide variety of establishments to facilitate work based activities which is a fundamental aspect of the Hospitality Industry Project.

Successful candidates may progress to honours level of a BA (Hons) Hospitality Management course in conjunction with Edinburgh Napier University at the Craiglockhart Campus, Edinburgh.

HND in Hospitality Management. All applicants are required to satisfy the general admission requirements of Edinburgh Napier University.

Apply Information

Fill in an application form and return it as soon as possible to the College’s Student Services Section. Your application will be acknowledged within ten working days of receipt.

It is important that you complete the application form as accurately and clearly as possible. You may also wish to include additional information to support your application.

Your completed application form will be passed to a course tutor who will consider your application and you may be asked to attend an interview.

If you are successful you will be made a formal offer of a place. An unconditional offer means that you fulfil all the immediate course entry requirements and have been accepted. A conditional offer means that you must obtain certain qualifications or examination grades before you are accepted. Guidance on how to accept or decline a place is contained in the offer letter.

If you decide to withdraw your application or if you are accepted on to more than one course, please inform the Student Services Section immediately. This will enable us to offer the places held open for you to other applicants.

Applicants who are unsuccessful will be given the opportunity to consider other options available to them and, if required, to seek advice from Student Services Staff.

Applications are welcomed throughout the year. However, the earlier you apply the better your chance of a place on the course of your choice.

Enrolment

Enrolment dates vary according to course requirements. If you have accepted a definite offer of a place, the Student Services Section will provide you with joining instructions giving details on when to enrol and first day attendance. These are usually sent at the beginning of August.

Induction

During your first few days at the College you will obtain more information on your course of study and the facilities on offer at College. Usually there is a Welcome Event at the beginning of each academic session. Details will be provided with joining instructions.
