Annual Equalities Report
Glasgow Metropolitan College is pleased to report its progress, over the past 12 months, in meeting the requirements of its Disability, Gender and Race Equality Schemes and respective action plans. In anticipation of the Single Equalities Act, the College has combined its annual reportage for the three equalities strands with public duties. View further details.
Following a request from the Scottish Government, the College reported on its recent efforts in redressing Gender Imbalances within the College, particularly in relation to course provision and student support. View the Addressing Gender Imbalances Report.
Our Equalities Statement

Staff and students have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and our Equality Policy aims to eliminate discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and good relations between staff and students from all backgrounds.

The College is committed to ensuring that staff and students are aware of their rights and responsibilities under the equalities legislation.
The College has collaborated with Diversiton to produce the Diversity Calendar 2010, which details the main festivals and events across a variety of faiths. The Diversity Calendar is copyright to Diversiton (www.diversiton.com) and under the terms of this agreement usage is restricted to employees of Glasgow Metropolitan College and its clients/users within the normal parameters of day to day work. Any unauthorised copying or distribution outside of the organisation is strictly prohibited. Diversiton is a non profit making organisation and all resources are used to support the development of new products and services in the promotion of equality and diversity. Diversiton also supports a range of charitable projects. Thank you.

Disability, Gender and Race Public Duties
The College is committed to meeting its general and specific public duties in relation to Disability, Gender and Race. Please refer to relevant sections using the hyperlinks at the top of this page under About the Met.
Age, Religion or Belief and Sexual Orientation Equality
In addition to our public duties, we are committed to eliminating all types of discrimination and promoting good relations and equality of opportunity across all strands. As such, guidance notes are issued to staff to raise their awareness of the legislation and respective responsibilities on Age Discrimination, Religion and Belief and Sexual Orientation.
Bullying and Harassment
Harassment and bullying of any form will not be permitted or condoned. The College strives to create an environment for staff and students which is free from harassment and bullying. Individuals have the right to complain about harassment and bullying and are assured that such allegations will be dealt with seriously, sensitively, promptly and confidentially. The College Staff Harassment & Bullying Policy and Student Harassment & Bullying Policy outline the procedures to be adopted when a complaint is made. Additional assistance can be provided from Student Services or Personnel Services Sections.
