The School is fortunate in having good practical facilities to be able to deliver realistic work experience, enabling us to produce professional and competent employees respected by and meeting the needs of our industries.

The School is split into 3 divisions and is situated in the Cathedral Street campus. A range of courses are offered at all levels on a full time, part-time and evening basis.

Division of Food

Within the Professional Cookery section courses range from the pre-vocational cookery programme to HND in Professional Cookery. The Bakery section offer courses in Craft Baking and Cake Decoration while the Food Science section provide Food Technology and Hygiene courses at both non-advanced and advanced levels. College/school links are particularly important and our staff regularly visit schools to give demonstrations, or pupils can come to college for a week to take part in a taster course.

Division of Hospitality

Has a focus on the practical and managerial aspects of the growing leisure industry. Hospitality courses give students a thorough introduction to all aspects of this industry linked to practical experience.  The Events groups organise and manage events in and outwith the college ranging from music nights to fashion shows.  Licensed House Operation courses focus on product knowledge and legislation relating to the growing licensed trade. Students on the Business courses gain relevant skills in selling, marketing, economics and human resources.

Division of Sport & Tourism

In these exciting specialist areas SQA programmes are offered from Non Advanced certificates through to HND qualifications. All programmes have a balance of very practical hands-on activities and underpinning theory. Students on Sports programmes will be required to participate in strenuous activities and after an introductory period be expected to lead coaching sessions. Participation in NGA courses (self funded) is also advised to enhance students’ employability. Travel and Tourism students are required to participate in prescribed visits, with their group, which are included to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the travel industry and its products. Specialist learning environments include: the mock airline cabin; travel agency; call centre; fitness suite; dance studio and large games hall.
