Why Glasgow?

Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city with a population of over 680,000. It is home to a wealth of cultures and nationalities, priding itself on the friendliness of its people. The city has a rich heritage of business and commerce. Home to the headquarters of many national and international companies, it is also an established centre for the Creative Industries. Over 400,000 jobs exist in the city and the development of the conference, retail and hotel sector has transformed Glasgow into a key destination for both business travellers and tourists alike.  

Many opportunities exist across a range of industries making Glasgow a great place to study and work. This cosmopolitan city also boasts a wealth of galleries and theatres, and is the second largest shopping destination in the UK.  An array of restaurants and bars throughout the city appeal to every taste and budget; while supermarkets and independent retailers cater for the international tastes of our diverse population.   

Music is popular throughout the city with a range of concerts, gigs and club nights running throughout the year offering a great choice for all music tastes. Sport is also popular with a large number of private and public gyms throughout the city, in addition to facilities accommodating football, rugby, ski-ing, martial arts and much more. Glasgow will also host the Commonwealth Games in 2014.  

Glasgow offers the perfect base from which you can explore the rest of Scotland. Just one hour from Edinburgh and Stirling; and less than 50 minutes to the world famous Loch Lomond. Glasgow airport is also close by offering direct flights to many European cities.
