£5,000 F&C Investment Trust Prize Shortlist Announced

Four students from City of Glasgow College have reached the semi-finals of this year's F&C Investment Trust Prize competition which challenges students to think and respond creatively about their financial future.

Each student now faces a public vote with the winner going up against other finalists from UK universities for the chance to win £5,000 for their faculty.

Starting as a partnership with City of Glasgow College, the F&C Investment Trust Prize is back for a second year with the competition widened to include universities from across the UK.

Paul Little, Principal and Chief Executive at City of Glasgow College, said:

“We are the only Scottish college competing in this competition, against UK universities, so our congratulations go to our four students who are representing our college and Scotland. The variety of entries shows that imaginations have been sparked regarding financial education. We wish Adam, Laura, Kirstie Ann and Honor the best of luck in this next stage.”

Our semi-finalists from the Faculty of Business & Humanities are:

  • Adam McGrenra - HND Business
  • Laura McDines - Dip Higher Education
  • Kirstie Ann Duncan - HND Legal Services
  • Honor Mcalpine - HND Legal Services

Members of the public can vote here for their preferred semi-finalist.

The winner will compete with students from Bristol, Leeds, Cardiff and Belfast universities for the chance to win £5,000 for their faculty and a day at the BMO Global Asset Management office in London or Edinburgh.

The overall UK winner will be announced in the week of March 9. Competition judges include last year's winner, Heather Ramsey, former HND Legal Services student at City of Glasgow College.
